Keep the entire JSON package. Its salt and IV are required for recovery; they are not the password. Every encryption uses fresh random values.
AES-256-GCM with authenticated ciphertext; PBKDF2-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations. This tool is for text, not whole-disk encryption or organizational key management.
Privacy & limitations
Data stays in this open page. Reloading clears it. A compromised browser/device, extensions, screen capture or an exposed clipboard can defeat this protection. Use approved security software for regulated or high-value secrets.
The tool detects wrong passwords or changed ciphertext but cannot recover a forgotten password. It only decrypts its own version 1 package format.
